R5-PHT Funko Pop 3D model - FREE stl file

 Here is the 3D model for R5-PHT.

The original droid was seen in Solo a Star Wars Story.

It also made into the Droid Factory toy set, from the same film.

As Funko didn't produce ALL the astromechs as two legged versions, I decided to create my own, and then produced it as a three legged version.

This R5 has the extra holoprojector that was intended to be used in the film, to show Han Solo the join up and see the galaxy holo video.

This is the link to my 3 legged version of the Funko.

Image is from the two legged version I created

Solo droids at Scarborough Sci-Fi

Fellow droid builder and longtime friend, Glynn T, attended an event with these two familiar looking droids that were seen in Solo a Star Wars story.

Glynn took along his replicas of R5-232 & R5-PHT to Scarborough Sci-Fi weekend.
Also attending were Darren P , Chris ‘3-P0’ W and a few others.

3D printed badge display’s - RED CUP

This is a special badge display I designed to include a very unique pin. A Red Cup one. This pin was given to a small group of Droid Builders by Mike F, to commemorate a special event we were all connected with.
This 3D stl file will only be available to those in the group.

Throwback Thursday: Red Cup Wrap 2017

Our services were requested by Lee.T as ‘special droid servers’ for a wrap party event, back in 2017.

This was a great honour to attend and we got to show everyone our ‘driving skills’ as well as getting to rub shoulders with cast/film celebs…😄. Once our duties were finished we were then able to enjoy the rest of the night.
Can’t believe it’s been four years!!

Funko Pop Astromech 3D - more work [R5-PHT]

Just added this comment to my Thingiverse item:

Major UPDATE:
My own design for R5-D4's body with recessed panel and restraining bolt are now drawn up.
[This took ages as I needed to do some modifications to allow the illusion of the legs being the curved face to body look.
R5's head is also now completed! A soft spring would be required. I think I'll also do a small joining collar so the head doesn't require a spring, just to give the spaced impression.

Once I've been able to print these off to test, I'll upload them.

What I haven't said is that Monday, I drew up another R5 head....this time, R5-PHT from Solo a Star Wars Story. This R5, briefly seen in after Han has made it through the gate room scene, has a special Holo projector located just under it's sensor eye. There's a story behind this.....but that's for another time ;)

R5-PHT - Solo a Star Wars story

I also produced another 'standard' body, without the restraining bolt and recessed panel. The body I'll upload once printing confirms it's good.

PsyfoolRulez Customz - Solo - a Star Wars Story

He does incredible paint jobs on not only droids, but other model kits as well,
like toy blasters, diaramas & helmets etc.

Yesterday he posted up on Facebook, his set of droids he's recreated using
different model kits, these are NOT the Disney Droid Factory set
you can buy from the Disney store as a four pack!

Solo @ Milton Keynes - Saturday 26th May 2018

Early rise for the drive up to Milton Keynes Odeon IMax cinema, for the day's event.
Myself with R5, Mike with his M80 Glynn with his R2-PHT & Adam with his R2. We were joined my fellow R2D2 builders Chris W & later, Stuart B. Joker Squad were kitted up and ready to welcome the first catch of the day lol. Lots of people passed through and had their pictures taken. As usual some were a bit surprised to see us all. Chris has posted lots up on Instagram & also on the R2 Facebook page.

SPOILER FREE

Mid morning myself and Mike were allowed to store our droids safely in the projection room, where we also got the low down on how it all works. Then we went in to watch Solo, in IMax 3D!

There was a few more things spotted the second time of watching lol But for us, the biggest surprise was after the film had finished! Can’t say any more than that lol.

~~~
After the film, we powered up the droids and headed back down to the entrance foyer, where we rolled them around for photos and mischief with parents and kids alike lol.
We picked up some of the Solo cards, as these were free.
Later in the afternoon, we all got together for a group photo.
I had to say my goodbyes around 5pm as had to get back, for an early night, ready for my next event on Sunday.
The collection on the day raised for
(Children's Hospice)
was over £300.00!
Event Report - Leamington Spa Wars 2017
Friday night was loading up the car night. Got this down to about 15-20mins now lol. All ready for the off Saturday morning.
Saturday morning, early start. Met up with Paul Felski (& his R2-D2) and he followed me up in his transporter.
Just over an hour and a half drive up, we arrived at All Saints' Parish Church, Leamington Spa. And knew we were at the right place as Lee's van is unmissable lol. Glynn arrived at the same time, so we all unloaded and set up the droids.
We were all set ready for early birds opening at 10am, when we were asked if we could move our transports to a more convenient parking area......? 20mins round trip later, we had found free parking and had walked back to the Church. Thankfully Emma was able to keep an eye on the droids etc. Tho we did then miss the local paper interview.
Link to the papers website.
The guest list was impressive, Actors to prop makers from the original films, including film makers from 'Elstree 1976'. The new release from Helix stationary were on display as well as loads of vendors.
Lee got asked to attend the 'Force Awakens' Q&A panel, when someone mentioned he was there & had worked on it.
Banners set up.
One of the two tables, this one had my R4 dome with a few other items on.
Paul & Lee answering questions.
R5, R2-D2 & R2-PHT
 Lee's R2, Glynn's R2-PHT & Lee's other R2
Paul, chatted with Natalie Cuzner, who amongst over acting rolls,
played PZ-4CO in 'The Force Awakens'
We had a good day, chatting with visitors, explaining about the droids & how they were built. Talking about the Club & how to join. www.astromech.info for the UK, www.astromech.net for the world wide group. There are some great pictures up on Instagram #spawars, #spawars17 (just two examples) so check these out as well.
The event finshed around 5pm, and we packed up the droids and display. There was a film showing afterwards, so the hall had to be cleared away and seating re-arranged for the screen.
Emma dropped us back to our cars and then we headed back to the Church to load everything up. We said our goodbyes and headed off our separate ways.
For there next event in 2018,
check out their website, via link at top of Blog Post.
New Dome - 3D printing parts - holo projector eye
Downloaded the stl files from the Builders section, www.astromech.net, and asked Steve, my co worker (who has the 3D printer program), to start printing off a holo projector eye.
Parts 1 & 2, upper and lower cowl pieces were done in a few hours, but had to wait till the next day for the main piece to be finished printed.
Pics bottom, with support raft in first picture, second shows support raft removed.
Next up was the upper cowl part.
This didn't take long to print at all. So my Steve was able to start printing the main body.
All are in the process of being sanded, filed and generally smoothed as best possible, before I'll start primer/filler spraying them up.
Next up was to source a cabochon for the lens......3D print one perhaps?
But my friend Glynn saw my Instagram post and has offered me some, they're now in the post to me, thanks mate, much appreciated!
Feel The Force Day 5 - Peterborough 2017 **Event Report - Part 2**
There were stage shows on throughout the day, plus radio Peterborough were reporting live from the event.
As with most event's, we don't get time to take many pictures, but I did manage some of our mini area, including members of Joker Squad.
Agent Peggy Carter (Joker Squad) with R5
If I've told him once, I've told him a thousand times not to talk to strange droids.....
members of Joker Squad
R2-PHT & R5-D4
There were lots of people, some even dressing up for the event. The other side rooms had sense areas for touch and smell, as well as craft making area, Jedi training as well as lots more. The weather was great outside for people to look over the cars etc.
Standing up all day tho takes it's toll, and by 5pm myself and Glynn (R2-PHT) called time. Both having extremely long journeys home. Adam with his R2 & Wall-e, stayed till the end.
Another great time had by attending and people displaying/cosplaying alike. Check out their website link, for links to their Facebook page etc.
Feel The Force Day 5 - Peterborough 2017 **Event Report - Part 1**
Another fun packed day for all who attended.
I had loaded R5 up the night before as I wanted to be away early Saturday morning.
Quietly, up at 6am, out the door my 6:30am and on the long journey up to Peterborough.
Arrived around 10am and met up with Glynn & R2-PHT, Adam & his wife arrived not long after with his R2-D2 & Wall-e droid.
We were over in the 'Star Wars' corner along with Joker Squad.
There were crowds of people outside being entertained by costumed attendees & also the array of cars from films. American style police cars, classic & new, 'Bumblebee',
lowrider pickup truck as well as Mark's Podpad studio 95 Spider Batman inspired vehicle.
The doors opened at 11am, and the main area soon filled up.
....been a busy week plus weekend gone I had a special event to attend.
