This Droid Caller is based on the one seen on Han Solo's belt in A New Hope.
It is not 100% accurate, but that wasn't my intention.
I made it out of machined aluminium & brass and PVC pipe (two sizes).
I wanted sound as well as looks, something my Son could use etc.
So I wired up a mini 12v batter, a momentary switch & a buzzer and fitted them inside.
Bit of a tight squeeze but their in.
The Brass insert piece, above.
The D-ring can just be seen behind.
Mine is on the left, the other was requested after seeing my version posted up on the
UK R2D2 Builders Facebook page
& also on the
Replica Prop Forum Facebook page.

Hi, I'm making a droid caller for a cosplay and am very interested in how you built such an accurate replica. Do you have a list of the parts you used to make this or a tutorial of some sort?
ReplyDeleteHi, if you go to my main Blog page, on the right hand side there's a list of 'words' with numbers. If you find 'droid caller' these will take you to the relevant Blog posts on how I made it :-).
ReplyDeleteGood Day to all builders, I am reaching out for help with droid caller sound effects. I made a simple set up and need sound files perhaps a free download for my testing. thanks Dan
ReplyDeleteHi, there maybe sound files out there, but basically it’s the buzzer sound I have found by using this...... buzzer lol. You could record the sound for your set up perhaps.
