R5-D4 Astromech figure - The Mandalorian

Saturday 27th May:
(Pre) Ordered today from Kapow Toys, (not sponsored) the R5-D4 figure from The Mandalorian.

It won’t arrive till July, December!!!….. but at least I’ve got one. Funny thing is that on looking back I remember picking up the ‘vintage collection’ R5-D4…. in 2011……in May!!!

I had bought it from a local Toys’R’Us (now gone).

I only go for the more screen accurate figures, which saves me some money lol.

Left Coast Graphics - R5-D4 pin badge 2022

Purely by chance, I was scrolling down through Twitter, when I came across ‘Left Coast Graphics(website link) post about new pin badges. After clicking on the link & scrolling down the timeline, I saw the new pin badges they had!! 😍😍😍

Checking out the pins, I saw and HAD to get this R5-D4 original vintage style pin badge.

Postage to the UK was reasonable, so placed my order 😎
A few years back I purchased the R5-D4 stickers, here's the link to my Blog post, back in 2017!

Can’t wait!!!

Sledge mini update - **Left Coast Graphics**

I didn't have time before holiday to finish off painting the sledge cut outs &
since being home, I then had an urgent work commitment.

I then consoled myself by seeing Left Coast Graphics (instagram page)
retro stickers and ordered some for the sledge.
Just a little something to identify my sledge lol

Disney D23 Expo 2017 - R5D4 pin badge!!

Whilst searching up on eBay,
I found that these's!

A droid set of pin badges!

These pics are gleaned from internet searching...
(credit where possible has been given)

This group pic, posted by Jeremy Konrad.

These others are off eBay, no links, just search them up.

My fist thoughts were....fantastic!!
And then sadness at probably not being able to own one, well, not anytime soon lol

Then I noticed that this R5 has the 'round skirt' design, nothing new as this style of image appears on most of the trading cards, as I've mentioned in previous posts.

Then I noticed that this one tho had been given the 'film version', centre leg!
He has an 'outer leg' as his centre leg, therefore only having the ONE ankle cylinder!!
Check the first group pic to compare with R2.

Top marks to the person who didn't just copy an R2D2 body
and change his body panels to red lol

Well, I'm off to watch eBay for more Droids lol.

R5-D4 Trading Cards & DIY Display Stand

R5 trading card display

Since I started my R5 build, my searches for info, pictures etc have revealed a few items dedicated to him. The toy figure, being the most obvious one. I also now own a 'Bad Motivator' hoody and T-shirt. But I'd also come across a few trading card game cards, which led me back to the original film, cards.

A quick eBay search and Amazon too, revealed five different cards. So I found/bought the six. (Six, yes, one I bought two of lol). Next I wanted to display them, so came up with this idea.....

The material is perspex and machine's well, I used a Milling machine to cut the slots, though you could just as easilly use a drill or dremel?? You just have to keep it cool so it doesn't melt. I then spaced out the slotted pieces and glued them in place with regualar super glue. The Galictic Hero R5 is not glued down, might do in the future.

And here are my cards (so far). The two blue boarder ones are vintage 1977 cards. The far right is a modern trading card one (this is the one I have two of) The two middle ones are trading card game cards. And the bottom one, which is the same image as top left card is one made for the Japaness market. These are not all 'specific' R5-D4 cards, but they have rare images of him on these types of cards and thought it would be cool to have them. There's one or two cards I've see that I'm still after, I'll post these up in another post.
