Event - Chippenham Sci-Fi Day 2015 - report

As with all my recent events R5 was loaded up the night before into the back of the car.

Chippenham is only about a 40 min drive away, but I had to fill up with petrol & pick up a friend who was helping out at the event as well. The weather was wet on arriving, but I had my 'car cover' to protect R5 lol.
[yes, car cover lol, it doesn't fit the larger cars, but knew it would come in handy]

The town council had made ALL pay parking free for the day, this helped with parking for everyone, nice touch!

Neeld Hall, has had an over haul since last year, more space has been opened up, with was great for the crowds to move around.
The stage was dominated by an Alien Queen prop as well as other Alien film props. In front was Terminator items.
  • Mark was there with his Podpad studios props, Astromech's, steampunk Dalek & lots more.
  • Joker Squad, Charity Sci-Fi, Southern Troopers & The Milton Keynes Garrison were just some of the groups there in a full range of costumes.
There were lots of stall's, collections for charities & of course Guests.

Paul F brought along his almost completed R2-D2 dome, with pop-up periscope that he has been working on. Great work in what he's done!

The Doors opened at 10am.

The amount raised was split between three charities.

Just finished loading up R5 into the boot of the Zafira and the rest of him and tools. The transport platform I finished off yesterday, to move R5 over uneven surfaces etc is also packed in. My new display board packed.

My Son is coming with, though will join his friends when they arrive later. When asked if he'd like to come with me to help set up, he was very excited......but in a mature way lol.

~ R5-D4 ~ Along with LOTS of others will be attending this event.

Good news for Sci-fi enthusiasts. Following the popularity of the annual Dalek Invasion, the Museum have announced that a new Sci-fi event will take place on Saturday 23 November. The Sci-fi Fest will appeal to all followers of the Dark Side. An intergalactic call has gone out, and all manner of alien life forms and time lords have agreed to attend including: Storm Troopers, Darth Vader, R2D2, Cybermen, Aliens, Klingons, Ghost Busters, Predators and more.

In addition, there will be family activities involving making your own take home space ship, celebrities, Sci-fi traders, face painting and souvenir photography to add to the occasion.

Organised by the Charity Sci-fi team whose extraordinary exploits have helped raise many thousands of pounds for worthwhile causes, this new family friendly event is on course to be the biggest event of its kind in the South West.

Advance Tickets are available on the Museums’ website, in the Museum Shop during normal Museum opening hours and will be available on the door. Numbers will be restricted.
