Treadwell WED-15 droid build : Part 7 - mast & claw arm

Monday morning (12th)
back in work and the printer had supplied me with a number of mast parts......

Part 1 still to be printed [later this week].
Part’s A and B are already printed.

I made a start on cleaning up the edges etc. and trying to remember in what order they should go together lol.
I defo need to add some way of identification to the parts.

I’ve not been able to print off any more, due to the printer being in use.

But I do have enough to be getting on with before Saturdays builders Christmas meet.

Tuesday 13th
The CLAW arrived today...

When I get a chance I'll CAD this up for 3D printability.

I've ordered two new servos, one for the head and a smaller one for the Claw arm.

The Claw arm info I found on Parts of Star Wars’ facebook page:

A search up online and although these parts are no longer available, the website does have these parts listed but more importantly, they have full technical details and dimensions.

Links:
Clippard
9CD-3T (dimensions are the same as 3CD-2T, which I believe is wrong)
11752-2 (not the old version, but close enough)

Thursday 15th
I drew up the two piston arms to the tech details off the above links, but I wasn't happy with the 9CD-3T's length, as it states its the same length as the 3CD-2T. Looking at the above image, I decided that I would increase the 3T to just over 5" long. This also then matches up with the 'stroke' length info.

I’d missed a few details off, so added them for the next print. The holes were originally added for strengthening pin locations, but I don’t think they will be needed.

SM-6, the part that connects with the 'Claw', I also increased in size as the dimensions were to small to it and didn't match up with the original image scale.

I then drew up brackets that will attach to the new SM-6 and 9CD-3T/3CD-2T.

I’ll post up more pictures after the builders meet tomorrow.

Don’t forget to check out the Droid Builders  UK YouTube channel and Facebook page for possible live streaming of the day.
